Coursework in fiction, nonfiction, and advanced writing will prepare you for a broad range of career opportunities with these resume-building skills:

Creative Writing and Storytelling – Develop original ideas and transform them into compelling written works.

Fiction Writing – Create believable characters, vivid settings, and engaging plots.

Creative Nonfiction – Write personal essays, profiles, and narrative journalism with authenticity and voice.

Program Courses

Creative Writing Minor

ENG-226: Introduction to Creative Writing

Explore and practice the fundamental techniques of writing poetry, fiction, and drama while developing your unique creative voice.

ENG-316: Fiction Writing

Write and refine short stories and novel excerpts with a focus on narrative craft and publishable quality in a workshop setting.

ENG-317: Creative Nonfiction

Develop prose writing that blends elements of fiction, journalism, and personal essay to create compelling narratives.

ENG-320: Advanced Writing Workshop

Apply advanced forms and techniques of creative writing to strengthen your style, voice, and mastery of the craft.

Students will select two additional elective courses for their program. Options include courses such as poetry writing, advanced writing workshop, writers and styles, or creative endeavors.
