91.3 WCSG: A Ministry Extending Cornerstone University’s Mission

As Cornerstone University marks 85 years of Christ-centered education, one of its longest-standing ministries continues to live out that mission each day — 91.3 WCSG.
Founded in 1973 and now more than 50 years into broadcasting, WCSG has grown from a campus radio station into a leading Christian adult contemporary community influence in West Michigan. As a ministry of Cornerstone University, its purpose is clear: to point listeners to Jesus Christ through content grounded in Biblical truth applied in practical ways.
“Cornerstone’s mission is carried into the community through WCSG,” said Kathy, longtime co-host of the Mornings with Steve & Kathy show at 91.3 WCSG. “Everything we do is centered on sharing the hope of Christ in ways that speak into people’s lives.”
Each week, WCSG 91.3 reaches over 200,000 listeners across West Michigan — becoming a steady presence during commutes, workdays and time at home.
That presence is thoughtfully created through intentional programming and music events that bring people together in worship. Alongside contemporary Christian music, WCSG features local shows such as Mornings with Steve & Kathy and The Ride Home, as well as trusted national programs including Focus on the Family and FamilyLife Today. Listeners also engage through an online Prayer Wall forum, podcasts and connections to local churches and events — creating space for encouragement, reflection and spiritual growth.
WCSG also serves as a hands-on learning environment for Cornerstone students studying communication, providing opportunities to develop real-world skills in broadcasting, production and communication while contributing to a mission-driven platform.
WCSG 91.3 has consistently ranked among the top — and often the No. 1 — radio stations in West Michigan. Recently, for the previous three quarters of Nielsen rating periods, the station led the market in both total numbers of listeners and the time they spent listening — an uncommon combination that signals both broad reach and a deeply engaging listening experience. Nationally, WCSG continues to rank among the top-performing Christian AC stations in comparable mid-size markets.
“Those numbers represent real people and real influence impacted by the ministry of WCSG,” Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, president of Cornerstone University. “They show that listeners are not just tuning in — they’re choosing to stay.”
This work reflects the same foundation that defines Cornerstone University. As the university prepares students for careers, leadership, and lives of influence grounded in a Christian worldview, 91.3 WCSG serves as a daily expression of that mission throughout West Michigan.
