Cornerstone University Launches President's Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board to Lead the Future of Christian Higher Education

Cornerstone University announced in a FOX News exclusive on Saturday the launch of its new President’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board to ensure that Cornerstone leads — rather than follows — in the integration of artificial intelligence across all aspects of the student experience and university operations. The board brings together distinguished leaders from technology, industry and higher education to provide strategic counsel and foresight, technical insight, and ethical grounding to help Cornerstone prepare its students for a world being rapidly reshaped by artificial intelligence.
“Artificial intelligence is the most revolutionary technology in the history of humanity. It has already touched every aspect of human life and has begun to reshape fundamental aspects of the human experience,” said Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, president of Cornerstone University. “Cornerstone will lead in this artificial intelligence moment through providing a sophisticated and compelling Christian framework for the understanding and use of AI to prepare our students to harness AI for the flourishing of all.”

As AI becomes increasingly integrated across industries, employers will seek individuals who are sophisticated AI users and can apply technology to solve problems and create opportunities with expertise, innovation, and wisdom. Cornerstone is preparing students to meet this need given its mission to educate tomorrow’s Christian influencers – graduates who are market-ready, morally grounded and who will serve as tomorrow’s leaders of industry and ministry.
The President’s AI Advisory Board will support Cornerstone’s commitment to preparing marketplace intelligence-ready graduates through The Cornerstone Core™ — advancing AI related curriculum innovation, identifying emerging technology workforce skills and helping establish principles that protect human dignity and support academic integrity.
To that end, Cornerstone’s recently introduced an Applied Artificial Intelligence Certificate, a practical, hands-on program designed to help students develop AI fluency and workplace-ready skills. Unlike many AI programs focused primarily on technical development, Cornerstone’s certificate emphasizes how AI is applied across communication, leadership, research, decision-making and professional environments through a Christian worldview framework.
Dr. Robert Marks, distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering at Baylor University, will serve as co-chair of the President’s AI Advisory Board along with the Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño. Marks is a senior fellow and director of the Bradley Center for Natural & Artificial Intelligence at Discovery Institute. He is also a fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Optica, and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. He was the former editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and president of the IEEE Neural Networks Council.
Dr. Marks is excited to help lead this effort at Cornerstone University and grateful to be part of an institution that is taking the future of this technology seriously, “An education that ignores artificial intelligence leaves students ill-equipped for the modern world. An education that embraces artificial intelligence without addressing questions of faith, morality, and human exceptionalism leaves students spiritually ill-equipped. Christian universities must do both.”
The President’s AI Intelligence Advisory board and AI certificate reflect Cornerstone University’s commitment to being The Destination of Choice for Christian Higher Education, a university that is singular in preparing graduates for the future of life and work while defining how Christian higher education responds to one of the most significant technological shifts in human history.
