Cornerstone Participates in Discussions on the Future of Education
Cornerstone University President Gerson Moreno-Riaño contributed to the national conversation on the importance of innovation for the future of higher education while representing the university in Washington, D.C., and in appointments with state legislators. During his visits, he met with multiple senior leaders and directors in the U.S. Department of Education, a U.S. congressional representative, Michigan’s Senate Republican Leader, and a group of over 100 Americans for Tax Reform coalition builders to discuss how innovation in the academy can promote the flourishing of America and its families.
Key discussions with the Honorable Lisa McClain, representative for Michigan’s 9th District and a member of the Committee on Education and Workforce, and a subsequent meeting with Senator Aric Nesbitt, representative for Michigan’s 20th Senate District and a 2026 gubernatorial candidate, considered opportunities to accelerate talent development in Michigan and across the United States.
According to TalentFirst’s Michigan Center for Adult College Success, nearly half of Michigan residents do not currently meet the educational criteria for job postings that require a college degree. Cornerstone’s SOAR™ program provides a desperately needed solution to this problem. Through its disruptive and innovative model, SOAR™ radically improves access to college for adult learners via an affordable, self-paced, and mobile-only bachelor’s degree while preparing morally grounded, market-ready leaders for employers.
Cornerstone is also improving access to higher education by addressing tuition transparency. In 2023, the university announced a historic 22% tuition reduction. Today, Cornerstone’s tuition rates remain unchanged for 2025 and among the most affordable tuition rates for bachelor’s degree programs at private colleges and universities.
