Cornerstone University Enactus Team Advances to 2016 National Exposition
The Cornerstone University Enactus team is proud to announce that it was awarded the title of Regional Champion at the Enactus Regional Championship in Lombard, Ill., yesterday. The Regional Championship provides a platform for Enactus teams to share the details of their social enterprise projects with a panel of leading business executives, while also giving them the opportunity to network with business leaders and Enactus students from across the Midwest.
As competition participants, the Cornerstone Enactus team presented four projects to a panel of business executives. These projects included the first annual International Artisan Market the team hosted in November 2015, social media training for local non-profit organizations and small businesses and the team’s contributions to Night of Nets, a campaign to prevent the spread of malaria in Africa through the distribution of bed nets. The team also shared about Microgive, a project team who raised money to provide microloans to small business owners in the Ivory Coast. The team was also able to share long-term results about last year’s microloan recipient, who has paid back over 40% of her loan and has increased the capacity of her store.
The Cornerstone Enactus team has 60 student participants who worked on a total of 12 projects this year. These projects were funded through student government, fundraising efforts and donations from local businesses and faculty members.
The team will head to St. Louis, Miss., to attend the Enactus National Exposition in May, where they will compete against Regional Champions from around the country.
