Honoring Our Golden Eagle Athletes: Excellence in Faith, Sports, Academics and Service
This past academic year, Cornerstone University student-athletes enjoyed significant success on and off the playing surface! In the classroom, CU Golden Eagles soared, as every athletic team finished with a cumulative GPA above 3.0! Overall, Cornerstone student-athletes averaged a 3.42 GPA, an outstanding achievement!
Men’s basketball and women’s cross country captured conference titles; 16 All-Americans were honored; and four teams qualified for NAIA national tournament play!
Student-athletes at CU are committed to important values, including servant leadership, competition, communication, resilience, attention to detail and gratitude. And community service is a hallmark of the program to help student-athletes experience giving back.
Our second annual Pack the House event was a major highlight of the year! This mission-focused event filled Mol Arena as the CU community enjoyed a basketball doubleheader against Lourdes University, with all proceeds going to fight hunger in the Philippines. Following the games, over 42,000 meals were packed for our brothers and sisters in need. We thank the community for their generosity and time!
During the summer leading up to the 2023-24 academic year, representatives from each team went on a leadership retreat to Montana to grow in their faith and learn how to better serve their teams and campus community. Athletes InterVarsity at Cornerstone was also launched this year with a vision to disciple athletes to impact their teams, campus, Grand Rapids and the world with the gospel of Jesus.
We are so proud of our student-athletes for such a fantastic year! Join us in celebrating their accomplishments and looking ahead to future success in athletics and beyond!
