Jesus Is Coming Again: Cornerstone University's Theme for 2026–27

From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture tells one unfolding story of God’s redemption. Christians celebrate Christ’s birth, His death on the cross and His victorious resurrection — but the story is not finished. One of Scripture’s greatest promises is that Jesus Christ will come again.
Many believers know that promise, yet rarely stop to consider what it means for how they live today.
For the 2026-27 academic year, Cornerstone University invites students, faculty and staff to rediscover the hope, joy and purpose found in Christ’s promised return through the annual theme, Jesus Is Coming Again!
In a special message introducing the theme, President Gerson Moreno-Riaño reminds the Cornerstone community that Christ’s return is far more than a future event to anticipate. It is a Biblical truth that transforms how Christians think, live, work, serve and love others today.
“Truth matters. And one of the most beautiful truths in Scripture is the coming again of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord,” Moreno-Riaño said. “Throughout the gospels and the New Testament, we’re reminded to be ready, attentive and watchful. Christ’s return is not simply a future event to anticipate — it is a present reality that should shape how we live every day.”
In a culture marked by uncertainty and competing visions of truth, the promise of Christ’s return offers something profoundly different: enduring hope, renewed purpose and the confidence that God’s redemptive plan is unfolding exactly as He promised. Rather than leading to fear or speculation, Scripture calls believers to live with joyful expectation, faithful obedience and unwavering confidence in the One who came — and who will come again.
Throughout the academic year, students will explore what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world through:
- Chapel, centered on the hope and transforming power of Christ’s promised return.
- Discipleship opportunities that encourage spiritual growth and Christ-centered community.
- Residence life programming that extends conversations about the theme beyond the classroom.
- Campus events and Biblical teaching that help students connect the hope of Christ’s return to everyday life.
“The coming of Jesus is an incredible truth that should lead us to great hope,” Moreno-Riaño said. “It should also lead us to think differently about our lives, how we treat others, how we approach our work, how we use our time and ultimately who we are becoming as followers of Christ.”
As the Cornerstone community begins a new academic year, the invitation is both simple and profound: fix your eyes on the Savior who came, live faithfully in light of His promises today and joyfully await the day He comes again.
