Lighthouse Group Sponsors 2015 Economic Symposium
Lighthouse Group, one of the largest privately-held insurance agencies in Michigan, has partnered with Cornerstone University and the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame to host the 2015 Economic Symposium, an event focused on the economic outlook of 2016.
The morning of Nov. 18, economic and business professors from Cornerstone University, Hope College, Aquinas College and Calvin College will come together at Cornerstone to discuss their perspectives on the economic outlook for 2016 in front of nearly 300 local business executives and business students.
“The Economic Symposium is something we are extremely proud to invest in,” said Lighthouse Group Executive Vice President, Geoff Widlak. “As a risk management organization, it is important for us to provide resources that help protect and secure the financial future of our business partners. The Symposium is a unique way we are able to help our clients.”
The discussion panelists will include John Lunn, Ph.D., Robert W. Haack Professor of Economics at Hope College; Brad Stamm, Ph.D., Business Division chair and professor of economics at Cornerstone; Todd Yarbrough, Ph.D., professor of economics at Aquinas College; and Adel Abadeer, Ph.D., professor of economics at Calvin College. The moderator for the event will be Carole Valade, editor for the Grand Rapids Business Journal.
“Five years ago, the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame began a partnership with Lighthouse, where Lighthouse would sponsor the Hall’s annual Thanksgiving weekend basketball tournament featuring Calvin College, Cornerstone University, Aquinas College and Hope College,” said Mark Kimball, president of the Hall of Fame. “Together we developed the idea of the symposium to showcase the schools’ academic strengths. It has proven to be a wonderful event.”
