My time at Cornerstone University as a student was most significantly marked by spiritual growth and an increased understanding of Scripture. I am so grateful to still be at Cornerstone seeking to provide opportunities that foster spiritual growth for our students.
We pray that being supported and encouraged to grow in their faith is one of the most central aspects to a student's time here.
Through discipleship opportunities and chapel services, students are encouraged to live out their faith as a response to what God has done.
Who We Are
Our staff covers a wide demographic from student volunteers to full-time staff, yet all have a desire to see the gospel understood and proclaimed on our campus and in our world. We believe peer leadership is crucial in this process, thus, many students fulfill the roles of small group leaders, worship leaders and chapel interns. A variety of part-time and full-time staff work to provide vision for these opportunities, plan programming and offer support and mentoring to students.
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." —2 Peter 3:18
Our greatest desire is that God would be glorified on this campus and in our world as we send our students out to be influencers for Christ. As such, we seek to equip students with tools to grow in their understanding of God's Word and how that intersects with their everyday living.
We strive to set up programming that encourages students to grow in their understanding of the gospel, God's grace and knowledge of their Savior. We desire to see students respond in worship to biblical truth both gathered as a community and as individuals.
Opportunities for Spiritual Growth
We encourage our students to seek out the opportunities offered to grow in their faith and strive to provide helpful and challenging resources. Students have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of small groups that may be associated with a residence hall, athletic team or topically based.
Chapel services are held four times a week on Sunday night, and Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings in Christ Chapel. Our desire is that our time together as a community would be a spiritual oasis for our students where they would be encouraged to focus on their faith in the midst of demanding schedules as college students. Chapel services are designed to be explicitly Christ-Centered, including elements that call us to remember the gospel: adoration, confession, assurance and thanksgiving.
Through singing, Scripture reading, prayer, testimonies, and studying God's Word, we aspire to bring glory to God and minister to our community in this unifying event. We seek to schedule internal and external speakers who will partner with us in these goals for our campus. Other opportunities for spiritual growth we provide include conferences, programming in the residence halls and other discipleship events.
If you have any questions about these opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Development team.
