Requirements for Admission

Are you ready to begin a life of growth and unwavering purpose? Take a look at our admission requirements below and determine which ones apply to you. Then, take the next step and apply. Remember, your admissions counselor is always ready to help whenever you need it.

Free Admissions Application

Complete our free application by Aug. 15 for the fall semester or Jan. 15 for the spring semester. This includes an essay stating your faith commitment.

Official College Entrance Exam Score(s)

We are test-optional for new freshmen and transfer students applying for Fall 2021. Students applying for Spring 2021 admission should contact the Admissions Office if they have not taken the ACT, SAT or CLT test to request a test waiver.

Separately from university admission, test scores may be required for acceptance into specific academic programs.

Official High School Transcript(s)

An official high school transcript is required if you are transferring less than 24 college credits. Your transcript may be submitted directly from your high school guidance counselor, Parchment, SCOIR or Naviance.

Or, if you are a homeschool student, download our transcript guide and instructions on how to calculate your grade-point average.

  • We recommend following the suggested college preparatory program: eight semesters of English; six semesters of mathematics; four semesters of science; six semesters of social science and/or history; and eight semesters of academic electives (e.g., government, psychology or speech).
  • High School Grade-Point Average Requirement: 2.5

Official College Transcript(s)

Cornerstone will accept college credits from an accredited institution that are 100 level or higher with “C-” grade or higher earned for the entire course. Technical courses will not transfer to Cornerstone.

  • College Grade-Point Average Requirement: 2.0

Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC)

Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college classes. It gives you the tools, training and experiences that will help you succeed in any competitive environment. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can pay for your college tuition.

Because Army ROTC is an elective, you can participate in the program your freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. You will have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but when you graduate, you will be commissioned as an Officer in the Army. At that point, you will have a wide range of interest areas you can specialize in called branches.

Application Process

Cornerstone University partners with Western Michigan University’s (WMU) ROTC program. First-time college students must apply to WMU by filling out the traditional undergraduate application. Each year, two to five students will be accepted into the ROTC scholarship program. Acceptance to the program is not guaranteed.

The ROTC application process should begin as early as your junior year in high school upon receiving your ACT/SAT test scores.

  • ROTC Scholarship Application Deadline: Dec. 31 of your senior year in high school. Please be aware that an interview process for prospective candidates may occur.
  • Course Registration: Upon acceptance into the program, specific courses must be registered for at WMU.

Funding Guide

The ROTC Funding Guide outlines enrollment checklists, financial aid benefits and career opportunities for students considering participation in an ROTC program as an undergraduate student.
