ENG-227: Introduction to Professional Writing

Explore the principles and practice of professional writing, including rhetorical strategies, document design, technical and business writing, and public communication. Students research, plan, draft, design and evaluate workplace documents across a variety of real-world writing situations.

ENG-318: Introduction to Editing

Study principles and practice for preparing manuscripts and articles for publication.

ENG-319: Advanced Grammar

Analyze English grammar — both descriptive and prescriptive — using traditional, structural, and transformational approaches.

ENG-327: Introduction to Publishing

Introduce the process of book publishing and the people who make it happen — authors, agents, publishers, retailers and readers — to provide a broad overview of the field.

ENG-380: Internship

Gain supervised, hands-on experience in a professional writing setting through academic credit and collaboration with an approved internship site.

Students will choose one elective to deepen their skills in writing or visual communication, selecting from Feature Writing, Selected Topics in Professional Writing, or Graphic Design I.
