Grand Rapids Theological Seminary promotes the rigorous study of Scripture and ancient languages. Each year, one of our expert faculty members leads the Thursday Evening Bible Class, a fall Bible teaching series offered on-site at GRTS for the community. Comprised of biblical lectures, the classes typically run from eight to 10 weeks.
Thursday Evening Bible Class sessions are free and open to the public. More than a hundred individuals from the community attend each series, representing a variety of Christian denominations and associations.
For 2020, Thursday Evening Bible Class will be offered via Zoom. Advance registration is not required.
Our nation is facing an insurmountable crisis regarding social and racial justice. While many voices are proclaiming their views from sociological and political perspectives—both conservative and liberal—many are not appealing to Scripture.
Taught by Dr. Kenneth Reid, assistant professor of systematic and historical theology, this series will survey the Bible’s teachings about public justice and seek to answer the question: What does the Bible teach about justice, and how should Christians respond in light of this? This study will present a biblical definition of justice and survey some Bible passages about justice. We will discuss passages from Genesis to Revelation.
The hope of this study is that everyone would grow close to God’s heart for the marginalized and the poor and challenge their own conceptions of justice in a biblical context.
