Professor Karen Albert teaches applied voice lessons at Cornerstone University and brings her experience in performance and musicology to help students enrich their vocal skill and expression. Her extensive experience in solo and ensemble performance brings a transformative dimension to her teaching.
Professor Albert received her Master of Arts in Musicology from Michigan State University and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Central Michigan University, where she was also a graduate and teaching assistant for various music courses. She has been a guest soloist with the Grand Rapids Symphony and for Fountain Street Church and Park Church in Grand Rapids, Mich., and at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in Hancock, Mich. She has performed in operas such as “Carmen,” “The Magic Flute,” “The Mikado” and “La Traviata.”
Professor Albert lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Joshua.
