Katie Garrett loves getting to serve in her current role as resident director for Pickitt Hall. Growing up in West Michigan, she never knew that she would end up back here serving and getting to experience Grand Rapids as an adult (who knew Grand Rapids was so cool?!). After graduating from Hope College, Katie moved to Colorado and served at a camp in the middle of the mountains. From there, she moved to Wheaton, Ill., to pursue a master’s degree in spiritual formation which then led her to her current role here at CU.

Katie’s role at Cornerstone blends together so many things that she loves: relationships, hospitality, programming events and pursuing the Lord together in community.

“During my own undergraduate journey, I was transformed by the people I did life beside. Those people saw me at my best and at my messiest. I am forever changed by those relationships in my life, which is why I believe that this season in students’ lives matters. Community can either propel us toward Christ or away, and it is my desire to walk alongside the sisterhood of Pickitt Hall as we share in each other’s lives. I believe that this developmental period of emerging adulthood is some of the most critical time in our lives, and the community we surround ourselves with during this season will have great impact on who we are and who we become.”
