Dr. Max Botner is an assistant professor of New Testament at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Dr. Botner is an expert in New Testament theology and the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament.

Dr. Botner received his Ph.D. in New Testament studies from the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, UK, in 2017. His dissertation was titled “How Can Mark’s Christ Be David’s Son?” He has also served as a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany, and has taught at St. Mary’s School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews and William Jessup University in Rocklin, Calif. While studying at the University of St. Andrews, he also worked as a research assistant for professor N.T. Wright.

Dr. Botner lives in Grand Rapids with his wife and their three children. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, skiing and reading.
